Final Project Idea

For my final photography project I am doing dramatic black and white portraits of people that express a lot of raw emotion. I Have looked a lot into it and it looks best with people that have more detail and rougher wrinkly skin because it ads more drama to the black and white. The reason i decided to do this is because a photographer i am really inspired by does stunning street photography of homeless people, and he really captures their emotion so well. I love his work and I am very inspired by it, and its something that I really like so i really wanted to try it for my final project. I know this will be difficult sense I don't live in a place with a lot of homeless people, but there are a lot of interesting looking people that I see walking around. I don't want to try to copy his work but i'm so inspired and interested in it that I really want to do the same idea for my project. A lot of people do this type of photography but the best that i've seen is by Lee Jeffries. I really hope to accomplish getting the raw emotion that he is able to capture so well. I also thought about going even further into this and taking a photograph of all the different emotions like, happy, sad, anger, fear, and so on.

Photo Journal # 9

                 Urban Landscape

This photo of the urban landscape I took with my iPhone while driving through Springfield Mass. Because of moving in the car, the streetlight in the top left corner looks like some type of light sparkling across the sky, I thought that the blur of the light turned out pretty cool.

For all 4 of these pictures i took them from under the microscope. They were samples of a root of a willow and the other was a root of something as well. To take this I had to take the lens off the camera and put a different one on that was meant for microscopic photography because it went right into the microscope. It was really difficult to focus, because now i had to do it from using the microscope, and I kept feeling like it wasn't as sharp as it could be, but it actually was. The last photo is the same one as the one right above it, just 4 different pictures pieced together.I also didn't feel like there was enough light at one point while shooting to i held a light up really close to the sample and it helped enough for satisfaction.

This picture is actually multiple photos stacked together. I did focus stacking with this one. As you can see it didn't come out perfect there are still a couple blurry spots where the focus didn't get. I really like this picture but it bothers me about the unfocused areas, if i could i would have gone back and redone it.

Journal #12 Food Photogrpahy

f/ 5.6
1/125
ISO: 360

This picture i took for our food photography assignment that we had. What i really like about this picture is the reflection from the table in it, and the angle and positioning of what the cook is doing. I darkened the background and boosted the clarity as well. Im happy with how this photo came out. I also took away some of the flour that was on the table to clean it up a little bit more, but i didn't take a lot out so it didn't look like it wasn't real.

Photo Journal #8

Favorite faculty member
For this journal we had to take a photo of a favorite faculty member and I chose to take one of my advisor, Mr. Cyr. I took this photo with my iPhone and changed it to a black and white because I like the way portraits look as black and whites.
